I’m beyond ecstatic to announce that I’ll be starting a new adventure this school year. Our school has been one-to-one in grades 3-5 for about 2 years now, which means all students in grades 3-5 have a personal tablet in their classroom that they can use during school hours. However, a few weeks ago, grades K-2 also received tablets. Each classroom received 1 tablet for every 2 students in the class. All of the K-2 teachers were thrilled about the new tablets, but they were also a little apprehensive because the tablets are Chromebooks and many of them had never used Chromebooks before.
Here’s where the new adventure comes in. I’m already part of our school Technology Support Teacher (TST) team, but my principal called me in last week and asked me to play a larger role on the team. She has set aside time on 2 days a week where I will be able to go into classrooms with teachers and help them get acquainted with the new devices and learn to use them. I will also be responsible for helping teachers find useful technology resources and tools that they can use in their classrooms.
I am overjoyed about this new and exciting opportunity, and I feel that it’s getting me one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a Tech Coach. Not only do I get more time to do more of what I love, but the skill and knowledge that I will gain through this experience will look great on my resume! It’s a win all the way around!
I’m eager to start this new adventure, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted on how it goes!
