GPfE Feature

Google Play for Education (GPfE) Basics

After setting up their Google Classrooms (see previous post), the teachers at my school were now concerned with finding and distributing quality resources and apps to their students. So I introduced them to Google Play for Education (GPfE). GPfE is the educational version of the Google Play Store. It is designed specifically for schools.

The GPfE platform allows teachers to use Chromebooks to differentiate classroom instruction. Once GPfE is enabled, teachers can use it to easily search for, find, and remotely assign apps and resources to individual student devices or to the devices of specific groups of students. GPfE contains a variety of educational apps and resources organized by grade and/or subject area.

I created the online tutorial below to help the teachers at my school learn to access and use GPfE. This tutorial includes basic step-by-step directions on how to get started with GPfE and how to create Google Groups which allows teachers to assign/install apps and share content with multiple students at once. The tutorial also includes links to a variety of helpful online resources and websites that can help you get started with using GPfE in your own personal classroom.

Let me know what you think! Are there any other helpful tips or resources that I can add?

Happy Tech-ing!
